This blog
post is a happy one. At least for me! I think I should start with the fact that
I love my hair. It’s a really dark shade of ash blonde; that dark that most
people think it a light brown. But it really has the cold shimmer of ash hair.
It’s mostly straight with a few waves in it here and there. When I was younger I
always wished for curls. And really blonde hair. But nowadays I’m grateful that
my hair is just how it is. It’s low-maintenance. Really. I wash it every day (I
know, I know… daily washing is not good for hair…), I use my fingers to comb
through it and wear it in a braid most of the time. The tips of my hair are
healthy and my hair is growing like weed.
But back to
what I wanted to write about. Not that long ago I found a forum for people with
long hair. And people who want to have long hair. And if I say long hair I mean
it! I always thought my hair was long with its ends to the bra strap. Fiddlesticks!
My definition of long hair has been altered forever. Some of the users have
hair to their buttocks. And beautiful hair, nonetheless! No extension, just
their own hair down to one meter! I envy them, oh how I envy them. And those
beautiful hair-dos they can do with their hair! All those pretty buns! The only
bun I’m able to do now is the Lazy Wrap Bun. For some time I was too scared to
try even that for I thought my hair was too short for that. And I get easily
frustrated when trying things and they do not work. I was self-conscious about
my ‘short’ hair anyway so I thought it wouldn’t do me any good to try out hair-dos.
But a few
days ago I decided to give it a try. I looked at the picture description again
and then tried to do it. And it worked!
It worked!
I used a
lip-lining pen as a hair fork and it worked! I made a beautifully wrapped bun
out of my hair and used a pen for it to stay where it was supposed to be. I was
stumped. And happy, so happy. Finally I can try those wonderful hair-dos. I’m
so over the moon right now! I even tried to wear it to work. I had some doubt
if it would not crumble in during work but I only had to re-do it twice in a
nine-hour shift. It really works. You can do a bun with one stick in your hair
and it works. I ordered now a proper hair fork and I hope it will arrive before
Christmas. I’m really looking forward to trying more buns!
